Dear Cupertino Chinese voters,

The November election is approaching—are you ready to vote? We would like to introduce two city council candidates who can safeguard the interests of our community: Ray Wang and Kitty Moore. Our city is located in the heart of Silicon Valley and is known for its excellent school districts, making it a prosperous and thriving middle-class area. Balancing support for urban development while preserving the unique character of our community requires business experience, political insight, and a genuine commitment to the community. Ray Wang embodies these qualities as an outstanding candidate.

~~~ Ray Wang ~~~
Ray Wang is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and has become a successful figure in the high-tech industry, recognized as a renowned investment and financial expert. He frequently appears as an honored guest on national mainstream media and at major economic forums. His deep understanding of the economy, particularly his analysis of the trends in Silicon Valley’s tech sector, has earned him respect and recognition in mainstream society, making him a true “Chinese star” shining across the U.S. Despite his personal career success, he remains dedicated to the community, aiming to apply his profound understanding of economic operations to benefit our city’s functioning.
As a second-generation Chinese American, Ray fully understands the experiences of his parents who came to the U.S. to study. He knows that after working diligently to earn their master’s and doctoral degrees, they ultimately achieved the “American Dream.” Many local Chinese friends have also come here in pursuit of their dreams. Ray remains grounded and recognizes that the pathway to success for most Chinese Americans lies in a strong emphasis on education. This is why he has consistently focused on various social issues that are closely related to the interests of the Chinese community.
He participated in the campaign against California’s Prop 16 to advocate for equal rights for all races. In 2017, during the controversial CUSD curriculum incident that concerned Asian parents, he attended meetings with hundreds of parents to support Chinese school board members Liang Chao and Kristen Pan in their courageous efforts to protect the rights of students. In 2022, when the school district rushed to close schools without sufficient research, he strongly backed local school board members Jerry Liu and Satheesh, using data to argue against the closures. Due to Ray’s continuous dedication and concern for the community over the years, several prominent Chinese officials and community leaders have praised him and strongly support his candidacy for the city council this year, including:
  • Darcy Paul, elected with the highest votes to Cupertino city council in 2018, served as mayor three times.
  • Liang Chao, elected with the highest votes to the CUSD school board in 2016, currently serves as Cupertino city council member.
  • Jerry Liu, elected with the highest votes to the CUSD school board in 2022, current chair of the CUSD board.
  • Patrick Kwok, a former mayor, was elected city council member in 2002 with the highest votes.
Many of these individuals have not only similar political views as Ray but have also been friends for over a decade and fully trust his character and dedication. This year, they strongly urge the Chinese community to unite and vote to support Ray Wang!
Ray Wang has also served as the chair of the Cupertino Planning Commission. Throughout his tenure, he has been concerned about urban development and is very worried about the various issues arising from the current city council being dominated by developers. He has repeatedly spoken out against the injustices in city construction projects, such as: a lack of transparency in major decisions, misleading the public with falsehoods, suppressing the voices of residents, secretly amending city regulations to favor large developers, and placing the interests of small businesses and citizens at risk of being sacrificed. He has also criticized certain city council members for refusing to abandon the $80 million new city hall project while continually reducing services for residents. His outspoken advocacy has earned him the heartfelt support of many citizens, but it has also made him a target for developers and certain entrenched interest groups.
This year, the Chinese community in California is particularly focused on Proposition 36, which aims to amend California’s Prop 47 law. Ray Wang actively supported this initiative earlier in the year by gathering signatures and donating to fund “Yes on 36” campaign yard signs. He understands that encouraging a culture of lawfulness in society and strengthening efforts to combat theft, car break-ins, and drug abuse are vital concerns for the Chinese community. Among the seven city council candidates in Cupertino this year, only Ray Wang and Kitty Moore dare to publicly support Yes on 36 and advocate for the voices of the people.
~~~ Kitty Moore ~~~

Let’s talk about another candidate running alongside Ray Wang, Kitty Moore. She is the incumbent city council member seeking re-election and currently leads in the polls. Kitty Moore was born into a relatively conservative white family that values community service, with several relatives having served in the military and as police officers. Her beliefs align closely with those of the Chinese community in terms of traditional values, the importance of public education, and support for maintaining social stability and adherence to laws.

Kitty has also helped rally the Chinese community against Prop 16, advocating for equal college opportunities for children of all ethnicities. Growing up, she faced financial difficulties and her family could not afford her college education. She worked hard, earned excellent grades, and received scholarships while balancing part-time jobs, ultimately obtaining a degree in civil engineering. Her personal experiences have made her particularly attentive to the importance of high-quality public education. To protect local students’ interests, she has publicly opposed the CUSD’s hasty decision to close schools during the pandemic.

After graduating from university, Kitty Moore worked as a civil engineer and is a licensed Professional Engineer, giving her a strong understanding of urban construction-related fields that can benefit our city. Kitty approaches her work from a professional and legal perspective, excelling at gathering data and researching documentation, making her a reliable advocate for the community.

To better fulfill her responsibilities as a city council member and efficiently address various complex construction issues and legal disputes, Kitty has continued her studies in environmental science and law at De Anza College, maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA and earning relevant professional certifications. With her expertise in environmental science and law, she has played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the city and its citizens. Under her supervision, the Vallco developers were compelled to address pollution caused by construction and undergo third-party soil safety inspections.

Kitty Moore is meticulous when it comes to the city’s financial affairs. She discovered that approximately $64 million in reserve funds was sitting in a zero-interest account. Thanks to her persistent advocacy, the city’s finances received the attention they deserved, and interest began to be earned. This alone added several million dollars to Cupertino’s budget each year.

There’s a video of Kitty uncovering that the city was continuously funneling under-the-table benefits to certain organizations connected to developers without any formal contracts. She held them publicly accountable during city council meetings, demonstrating her commitment to transparency. With officials like her in office, citizens can feel secure and confident in their government.

~~ Interlude ~~

Finally, it’s important to emphasize that Ray Wang, as a venture capital expert in Silicon Valley and a bestselling finance author, has frequently appeared in mainstream financial media such as CNBC, Bloomberg, and Fox Business to discuss economic trends, stock market developments, and new technologies. Among these economic forums, he is one of the few outstanding representatives of the Chinese community.

Ray has achieved everything: he enjoys excellent economic conditions, a comfortable family life, a loving relationship with his wife for many years, and his children excel academically. If he were to be selfish, he could choose not to run for office, thereby avoiding the recent smear campaigns funded by certain special interest groups and political organizations. They attack him because they fear the rise of this new Chinese star and know that with his economic strength and track record in community activities, he will always prioritize local interests and cannot be bought off or bow to external political pressures.

In an attempt to divide the Chinese vote, some behind-the-scenes orchestrators even invoked the name of former Chinese mayor Kris Wang to spread rumors and falsely accuse Ray of misconduct. However, the very next day, Ms. Wang firmly denied any knowledge of this, stating that she was completely unaware of the situation.

~~~ Visions Shared by Ray Wang and Kitty Moore ~~~
  • Support rational urban development, respect construction laws, and oppose the unchecked enabling of developers to arbitrarily increase project scale and density.
  • Respect and protect single-family home neighborhoods (SFH), ensuring reasonable community growth and that new developments do not degrade the quality of life for nearby residents.
  • Promote transparency in Cupertino’s governance and oppose placing major project approvals behind hidden agendas.
  • Actively listen to citizens’ voices and encourage more residents to engage in decision-making for significant city projects, valuing the opinions of the local majority over external special interest groups.
  • Be vigilant against radical trends in California politics, and refuse to sacrifice the majority’s interests to promote the fringe benefits of a minority, such as eliminating car lanes on major roads solely to widen bike lanes.
  • Prioritize education and protect high-quality public schools, preventing school closures.
  • Encourage the maintenance of law and order, strengthen collaboration with the police department, prevent crime, and improve public safety. Call on the public to vote in support of Proposition 36 this year.
  • Protect Cupertino’s finances, promote transparency in financial audits, and ensure that taxpayer funds are used more responsibly.
  • Never sell or monetize public land and community assets, such as the city hall or Blackberry Farm. Public land should always serve the public good, rather than being used to exchange under-the-table benefits with developers.
  • Oversee environmental improvement projects at the Lehigh Cement Plant, using legal means to protect the environment and uphold the interests of local residents.
  • Promote the prosperity of local small businesses, increase interaction between residents and merchants, and support the retention of essential community services such as pharmacies, grocery stores, gas stations, medical services, and places of worship.
